In some rare positive health-related Pittsburgh Penguins news, forward Dustin Jeffrey is expected to return to the lineup tonight.

According to Sam Kasan of the Penguins Report, Jeffrey centered a line with Mike Rupp and Pascal Dupuis at this morning’s game day skate in Carolina.

Kasan’s 12:23 update confirms Jeffrey will, in fact, be in tonight’s lineup — the first time since suffering a lower body injury on February 10 against the Los Angeles Kings.

Tonight’s Lineup

Neal-Staal-Kovalev
Cooke-Talbot-Kennedy
Rupp-Jeffrey-Dupuis
Adams-Vitale-Conner

Letang-Michalek
Niskanen-Lovejoy
Engelland-Strait

Fleury
Johnson

Please note the defense pairings are unconfirmed, but expected based on radio comments by coach Dan Bylsma this morning.

Power Play Tidbit

The addition of Alex Kovalev give Bylsma another capable body for what previously has been a rather sickly-looking power play.

Kovalev and Kris Letang are expected to play the points, while Jordan Staal centers a forward unit that also features newly-acquired James Neal and red-hot Tyler Kennedy.

Injury News

Defenseman Paul Martin and center Mark Letestu took the ice with the team, this morning, but neither practiced with a specific line.

That they took the ice is good news. That they didn’t practice with specific lines is an indication that they aren’t quite ready to return.
