Let’s Face It…

These things are on my mind. Since I last had things like these on my mind!

Let’s Face It...The Pens were simply outmanned and outgunned in the series against Tampa Bay.

Let’s Face It...The Pens gave it everything, EVERYTHING they had, but it just wasn’t enough.

Let’s Face It...There is no shame, NONE, in going out in the first round this year…not like there was last season.

Let’s Face It...Take away the top two players on any other playoff team and you have the same result.

Let’s Face It...Take away the top two players on any other playoff team and can you say they are battling for the top of the conference/division the way the Pens were at the end of the season, I doubt it.

Let’s Face It...The Pens actually COULD have won this first round matchup with some help from the PP. But to think they could have beaten Washington or Philly would be a little native. It actually would have been embarrassing I honestly believe, and in the end, I don’t know if the fan base that has been THIS harsh on the team could have handled being beaten in 4 straight at the hands of Ovechkin or Richards. Just saying.

Let’s Face It...Crosby and Malkin will be back next year. That’s enough for me.

Let’s Face It...The Penguins will look different next season. There will be some turnover in the offseason, but hopefully many of them re-sign as I think they fit the team perfectly, and love playing here. Comrie, it was a rough season for you, or an easy one depending how you look at it…you won’t be back.

Let’s Face It...The Powerplay will be the “hot topic” for Ray Shero and the coaching staff. What or How it gets fixed…I have no clue, that’s why I’m just a fan.

Let’s Face It...It was a crazy season. From Sid showing why he’s the best in the world, to a 12 game winning streak, MAF struggling then becoming amazing, a debacle against the Islanders, playing with a lineup almost 75% WBS players, having Staal, Malkin, Crosby play something like 2 games together the whole season, and even grabbing the “DeLorean” and going back in time with Kovalev returning to the ‘Burgh.

Let’s Face It...It may not be the season we all hoped it would be. It may not have started NOR ended the way we wanted it to, or could have imagined it would. But that’s why they play. That’s why we cheer. That’s why we boo and scream. That’s why we love AND loathe this sport, and this team, and the players. That’s hockey.
