The Pittsburgh Penguins just announced that defenseman Brooks Orpik is now recovering from surgery to repair a lower abdominal/hernia problem.
He is expected to be out 6-8 weeks which may limit his ability to fully participate in training camp in September.
This is the second offseason in a row in which Orpik has gotten hernia surgery. Orpik is now 30 years old and could be feeling the effects of his rough and tumble playing style.
