The rumors mill never stops turning.

Last night there were several reports stating that Sidney Crosby had a doctors appointment scheduled for today that had a specific “ready for contact” onus to it.

It appears those reports weren’t entirely true, so we’re going straight to the source itself. Below you’ll find a transcript of Crosby’s morning skate scrum where he addressed some of these issues.

All audio was provided by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

On a purported doctors appointment this afternoon:

“I didn’t see a doctor. I don’t know who said I had an appointment today, but I don’t. Same as usual, I feel good, it went good today, and I’m excited to be home.”

On if he has an appointment forthcoming:

“Yeah, this week. Not because of anything out of the ordinary, I’ve pretty much been seeing a doctor weekly anyways. It’s not for any reason other than we were on the road for five days and they usually like to check in every week or so.”

On if he feels as if he’s closer to being cleared than he has been at any point prior:

“I mean, I’m closer than I was yesterday. I can’t give you a date, I’d love to, trust me, I’d love to be able to give you a day that I’m going to be able to come back and play, but right now, it’s the same.”

So, there you have it. While Crosby may be cleared for contact at his next doctors meeting, there is no substantial evidence that would prove one way or another.

As per our normal motto, we will continue to provide you with the facts as we know them.
