Brooks Orpik is going to play his first game of the season tonight against Montreal after undergoing abdominal surgery during the offseason.

According to the official Penguins twitter account, Orpik will debut tonight and play with Deryk Engelland although he will play with other players as well.

It is likely his minutes will be limited and will not see the ice time that his defensive partner Kris Letang sees until he is back to game speed.

In other news, Sidney Crosby and Dustin Jeffrey participated in practice today. Both players are recovering from injuries suffered last season. Jeffrey is rumored to be getting very close to returning. No word on Crosby.

Neal did not practice today with what is being called a “maintenance day” but Malkin and Staal had maintenance days earlier this year when they were nursing injuries.

Dan Bylsma is very secretive when it comes to injuries so this is the best we have to work with.
