On Twitter tonight, via Renaud Lavoie from RDS:

@RenLavoieRDS, Kris Letang is on his way to Russia. He’ll play in the KHL until the lockout is through. #Pens #NHL

Update – 11:03pm

From Dave Molinari at the PG:
“Letang is expected to sign with SKA St. Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League, a team whose lineup includes Ilya Kovalchuk, Petr Prucha, Maxim Afinogenov and Sergei Bobrovsky”

Instant Analysis:

There’s two ways to take this, in my opinion:

1) Letang believes that the lockout may continue for more than a few more days and will last the entire season and wants to compete, so he will play the season in the KHL.

2) Letang believes there will be a season, but it won’t start immediately and would like to go to the KHL to play a few warm-up games prior to the start of NHL training camps.

I hope for fans of the NHL’s sake, its the second option.
