The Pens today claimed forward Zach Boychuk on waivers from Carolina. He had played in only one game so far this year.

Now for the strange part of the story. Coach Dan Bylsma hinted that Boychuk might see time on the wing with Evgeni Malkin. “He could see time on Malkin’s wing.”

Say what? Talk about a stab in the dark. The dearth of quality young wingers in this organization is so bad that they have to pluck a guy off waivers (from a bad team, no less) and plug him in next to Geno. I knew things were bad, but this is getting ridiculous.
