| The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins pull out another
victory at the Wachovia Arena, improving their record at home to 14-5-2. As previously reported, forwards Bill Thomas, Chris Minard, and Paul Bissonnette were sent down yesterday. General Manager Ray Shero felt it would be nice for these players to continue playing in games, while the NHL All-Star Break has already begun. Dustin Jeffrey was also demoted, which was officially announced today. The Penguins started off the scoring quick. Connor James led a rush and fed a pass to Ben Lovejoy, who made a perfect cross-ice pass to Mark Letestu. He put in his 11th of the season on a backhand one-timer. The game would go scoreless until late in the second period. Luca Caputi put a pass through a Manchester defenders legs, right onto the tape of Thomas. He had an easy one-timer, and banged it home. Thomas would add his second goal of the game, and 7th of the season on a third period power play. The Pens capped it off when Caputi tapped the puck up to James, who scored his 13th goal of the season into the empty net. John Curry was rewarded with the second star of the game, after only allowing one goal throughout the entire night. The next game is Friday, January 23rd against Hershey @ 7. The game will be shown on XM Home Ice, as well as AHLLive.com. |
