The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Baby Penguins continued their early success in the opening period.

Dustin Jeffrey scored his 2nd of the playoffs only 30 seconds in, assisted by Paul Bissonnette and Tim Wallace.

At 9:27, Sound Tiger Michael Haley would answer with a garbage goal, tying the bid at one goal a piece.

Jeffrey would then prove to score on a power play, putting in his 3rd of the post season.

Bridgeport began to feed off of their home crowd atmosphere, and the likes of Kyle Okposo (who will not play another game in this series due to World Championships), Mike Iggulden, and Jesse Joensuu scored three unanswered goals.

The Penguins started their comeback trail in the third period. The red-hot Bissonnette and J-M Daoust assisted on an unlikely goal by newly acquired D Andy Wozniewski.

Only two minutes later, Ben Lovejoy made what might have been one of the greatest plays in AHL post season history. He skated back behind his net to maintain a dump as Bridgeport was going for a line change. He skated the puck up ice with a head of steam, keeping his head up. He moves past a forward or two, and takes a shot through a defenseman’s legs, sniping goaltender Nathan Lawson, tying the game at 4-4.

“Mr. Playoffs”, or Chris Minard buried the game winner, five minutes into the extra frame after Lovejoy took a shot that bounced right onto his stick.

The Pens have a 2-0 series lead, and play today at home at 5:05 PM.
