| Inside The Game |
| The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins return home tonight and face-off
against the Norfolk Admirals, who are on a current two game winning
streak. Eric Tangradi could return to the line-up tonight, which is currently lacking scoring depth. He has been sidelined with a shoulder injury and illnesses. Wyatt Smith is currently on a cold streak after opening the season with a two goal game. The Baby Penguins will be without the help of Chris Conner, who played a very good game with Pittsburgh, against the Los Angeles Kings last night. Rookie defender Robert Bortuzzo is close to playing a solid defensive game in his own zone, but some of his physicality seems to have been lost after being abused by Bridgeport’s Trevor Gillies earlier last month. Keven Veilleux has hardly cracked the line-up so far this season. But when he has, he played very effectively and his size and skill set intrigues me. Joe Vitale and Zach Sill have been the two most tenacious players for the Pens this season. They just love to hit. Brian Strait hasn’t been very noticeable, but he has 2 assists in 10 games, and is tied for the 2nd team best in plus-minus with a +4. Dustin Jeffrey leads the team in points (1 goal, 7 assists) in 10 games. He continues to show his strong penalty killing ability, and appears to be adding a bit of grit to his game. The Penguins two best forwards with Conner in the NHL now, have been Luca Caputi (4 goals, 2 assists) and Ryan Bayda (6 goals, 1 assist). Caputi also has 2 fighting majors thus far.
