Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News says the Penguins have reached an impasse with winger Petr Sykora which may cause him to become a free agent at the end of the season. He also says Fedotenko may be hitting the open market without an extension as well.

- A hot topic on FF, the resigning of Petr Sykora is definitely an interest for both sides. Sykora has stated on multiple occasions that he wishes to stay to play with Malkin. I believe a deal will get done considering Sykora wants to stay and Shero doesn’t want to go wing shopping for 3 top 6 wingers. Fedotenko will return depending on his price tag.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post said that the New York Rangers made a play for current Penguin Bill Guerin at the trade deadline but apparently wanted more in return for the veteran winger.

- Islanders GM Garth Snow apparently offered the same deal he offered the Penguins but Rangers GM Glen Sather wanted more in return than just Guerin. So he traded a second and a fourth for Nik Antropov… Good job Shero.

John Glennon of the THE TENNESSEAN reports that Alexander Radulov could possibly return this season and the Predators would welcome him back. However, that possibility is very remote. Glennon also said that “if Radulov decided to return to the Predators, he would not need to clear NHL waivers because he is still under contract to Nashville. He would become a restricted free agent at the end of this season.”

- Spector says “Radulov won’t be back this season, but given the rumored financial woes of Russia’s KHL it’s quite possible Radulov, as well as other notable former NHLers like Jaromir Jagr, Alexei Yashin and Ray Emery, could return to the NHL for next season if those rumored problems with the KHL continue or worsen.”
