Western Conference Quarterfinals Recap- 4/26
*Playoff Game 7: Canucks 2 Blackhawks 1 OT *
Canucks win series 4-3.
Vancouver’s Alexandre Burrows would be the hero of the evening, striking first about 3 minutes into an intensely epic game 7 at home.
Chicago, having returned from a 3-0 series deficit to force that game seven, found themselves in a sticky situation. There was some outstanding goal tending by Crawford, who made sure the Canucks did not get the 2-0 lead they were looking for despite the numerous power play chances.
The game was a continuous back and forth, both teams thirsty to win. But it was also thoroughly uneventful, until near the end of the third.
With no goals from the first two minutes in the game to the last two minutes, it was a low scoring match up.
A penalty to Duncan Keith for holding, sent the Canucks on the power play with only a few minutes to go, making their chances to take the series look promising.
Until Jonathan Toews worked some magic to score short handed, in a display of hockey talent sending the game seven into overtime.
But despite all of the glamour that could have came from overcoming being down 3-0 and from scoring short handed with just minutes to go, the overtime period ended 5 and half minutes in in favor of Vancouver.
Off of a devastating turnover, Burrows scored his second of the night to advance to the second round.
Chicago ended the season, and the Canucks look forward to a series against Nashville, starting Thursday at 9 p.m.
