Just for grins, I went back and looked at Evgeni Malkin’s career numbers against the Pens’ next opponent, the Philadelphia Flyers. I discovered something very interesting. Geno has performed much better in the City of Brotherly Love than he has in the Steel City. To wit…
In six games in Philly: 3 goals, 7 assists, +6
In four games in Pittsburgh: 1 G, 1 assist, -6
That home total includes the 8-4 blowout of the Flyers in December 2006 in which Malkin inexplicably went scoreless and was a -3. But the numbers show that he has really risen to the occasion in Philly. Let’s just hope there’s more where that came from on Thursday.
