The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins laid a convincing 5-1 victory on the Chicago Wolves to assure that the Calder Cup would not be on display in their arena. Faceoff Factor was there and was able to get pictures at the game.

Yesterday afternoon, W Joe Jensen was called up to the Carolina Hurricanes and played seven minutes in a 5-1 loss to New Jersey. Normally, this would not be newsworthy to anyone outside of the Jensen family. However, this extended a franchise record for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguin as Jensen marked the 13th player to start the year in Wilkes-Barre to play in the NHL this year.

There were three away games, with WBS going 1-2 in those games, and a plethora of transactions, leaving the Penguins to play two of those games with only nine active forwards. Over the last two days, the AHL has announced their all-star teams. The AHL still uses the Canada vs. PlanetUSA format that was experimented with in the NHL. Keep in mind that the AHL also has a rule that each team must have an all-star selected. Because of NHL call-ups, these teams will change as the All-Star game approaches.

WBS rookie Gs David Brown and John Curry both recorded wins (with Curry getting his first pro shutout). The two games also featured eight fights as the rivalry between these two teams continues.

The win was the 300th win in Penguins franchise history and brought the Pens back to .500 as their record now stands at 10-10.
