Two of the top defensive prospects in the Penguins organization, Carl Sneep and Brian Strait have shared the ice more than just a few times over their careers. Sneep is a big, bruising defenseman for the Boston College Eagles, while Strait is a standout for the nearby Boston University Terriers, who has already served as captain for the United States national team for junior players and collegiate players his age.
If you follow college hockey at all, or have ever read the sports section of a Bostonian newspaper during winter or fall, you know that Boston College and Boston University are the bitterest rivals in collegiate hockey. With the two teams battling for the Hockey East crown every year, things are bound to get a bit hasty at times, but there has been absolutely nothing to indicate Strait and Sneep have any hostilities between them due to their schools’ rivalry. Rather, the two fuel off the rivalry, rise to the occasion, and outshine other defenders when their teams meet on the big stage.
Strait stands 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds. He is a steady defenseman who focuses primarily on his own zone, but has never been hesitant to help move the puck, assisting on ten goals last year. His leadership and toughness earned him alternate captain honors at the start of last year.
Sneep is tall at 6 feet and 4 inches, but has yet to fill out his NHL sized frame. He only weighs about 210 pounds, but he will fill out, and when he does, he’ll become even more physically intimidating. Above all, Sneep is a puck mover- He led his team’s defensemen in scoring during a national championship run last season with the Eagles. He’s fast for a kid his size, and will only get stronger.
Strait and Sneep will both be finishing out there careers with B.U. and B.C. before moving on to the presumptive next step in their careers, the American Hockey League, where Baby Pens coaches will welcome the defensive stars with open arms.
The Eagles and Terriers clash December 5th and 6th and again for the Beanpot in February, for what should be some great showcasing of the best collegiate talent the Penguins have to offer, and the fiercest rivalry in hockey.

I can’t belive two more articles have gone up without someone realizing and fixing the problem with this one. With todays informational highway at your fingertips how can you not know that these two Boston teams are not be in the CCHA. It doesn’t take a lot of research. I enjoy reading your sight but the credibility of the articles will be questioned from now on

Dave, I apologize that you feel you must now question our credibility after a simple mistake that was not corrected immediately upon your request. Sometimes, when a mistake is made, it’s not caught by another writer for a while. We’re not professional journalists and we don’t claim to be. We’re full time students and have full time jobs. Time isn’t always on our side.
We appreciate your readership and your insight.

Dave,
My apologies for the mistake.
I don’t know what caused me to type the Central Collegiate Hockey Association as opposed to Hockey East, being as I went to the Hockey East site looking for information on the topic. It just came out wrong when I typed it, and that was an honest error on my part.
Please don’t judge Faceoff Factor on my one mistake. The writers on this staff are all knowledgeable hockey fans who know what they are talking about.
I won’t make a mistake of that sort again.
Thank you for reading anyway.
