I have a lot of sympathy for Finland, but USA versus Canada would make the best final. However, the games have to be played first and one can’t exclude an upset. Finland, especially, could be a tough nut to crack given their goaltending and experience.
Slovakia will play a defensive system similar to Sweden and hope to capitalize on mistakes by Canada. They’ll need the first goal and miracles by Halak to create the sensation. However, an increasingly confident Canadian team will be difficult to stop by Slovakia.

Off topic but,
From NBC.com:
“A half hour after shutting out the United States by a 2-0 score and earning the team’s third straight hockey gold, the players stormed back onto the ice at Canada Hockey Place and began their celebration in earnest — smoking cigars and swigging beer and champagne.”
Apparently the Canadian women had a little party after the fans left and the IOC and IIHF have their panties all in a bunch. Is this as much a non-issue to everyone else as it is too me?
Just to clue the rest of the world in to what we Americans already know. They do two things in Canada, drink beer and play hockey, sometimes at the same time. Get over it, it’s what they do.

I guess the phras “act like you’ve been there” applies here. The Canadian women made themselves look like “broads” in the worst sense of the word. Go ahead, celebrate, after the game, but do it in the locker room and then get dressed, go out and have a good time.
Scotty Lago was sent home by the USOC for less – having a double entre picture show up on the internet.

@Pens,
I see your point, I guess I just don’t see it as that big a deal since the arena was emptied of fans. If it was in public, I would have seen it as a bigger deal.
On a brighter note, USA leads the Finns 6-0 after the first.

Wow, a unexpected rout of Finland. The US really came out flying. They look like they’ve gotten their act together better much the same as the Canadians.
It was nice to see Wilson give Tim Thomas some time in net about halfway through the 3rd period so he can say he played in the Olympics.

That was a surprising easy nut to crack, but Finland needed good defence and spectacular goaltending to compete against a better and faster team.
Giving Thomas half a period was also sensible in case of an injury to Miller in the final.
Team USA decided to go with a new generation. Teams like Finland, Sweden, Slovakia and Czech Republic needs to do the same. I’m fairly certain that Canada blows Slovakia out of the water, and sets the scene for a fantastic final.

Well, the Slovaks gave Canada a scare. That game was hardly the dominating performance I’m sure most Canadians were expecting as their birthright.

Matt, the spammers will eventually find your site. I helped edit a small blog without much traffic and the spam we got was unreal.

@Matt and Pens,
It happens to me all the time with the small website I maintain for a buddy. It got to be so bad that I had to shut of comments to everyone except members.

@Pens,
It’s a gosh darn conspiracy! The canucks had a remote control puck that they used to guide Sid’s shot right into Miller’s fivehole.
