The ECHL Wheeling Nailers announced on Wednesday that they signed Kevin Du to a contract for the upcoming season.
Du is a 22-year-old graduate of Harvard University. In his senior year Du had five goals and 20 assists in 33 games.
In Du’s junior year he led his team with 33 points (10+23) and was named to the All-Ivy fist team, the All-ECAC third team and the Division I All-New England Team. Du finished his college career with 88 points (30+58) in 135 games
Du played one season of juniors before attending Harvard. When playing for the St. Albert Saints of the AJHL he had 65 points (25+40) in 48 games.
Both the Nailers President and Head Coach had good things to say about the young hockey player.
According to Jim Brooks, President, “…he [Kevin] will be an immediate standout both on and off the ice.”
Glenn Patrick, Head coach, said “He is a real hard worker and should bring a lot of energy to the offense. We are expecting him to get a lot of points.”

Du…that’s an odd surname. Where does he call home?

Dabich, Du is a native of Alberta (according to the Nailers site) but after a little research I found out that his family is from Vietnam. According to Wikipedia “his family escaped persecution in Vietnam and found refuge in Canada.” If you want to know more about that Wikipedia has a link from its page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Du
