The Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL obtained a well-rounded defenseman in Matthew Deschamps.

To acquire Deschamps, the Sea Wolves sent undisclosed financial considerations to the Phoenix RoadRunners.

Sea Wolves Head Coach Steffon Wallby said: “We Expect him to add depth and experience to our defensive corps this season.” Walby also said that Deschamps had a “great college pedigree” and has had “solid professional experience.”

Deschamps played for the University of Maine for four years. In 111 games he gained 16 points (3+13). He also has played with several ECHL teams, including Atlantic City and Fresno’s Kelly Cup playoff teams in recent years.

He also made a short, two-game appearance in the AHL with the Cleveland Barons during the 2005-06 season.
