Into The Boards is reporting that the Penguins have signed two key prospects to amateur tryout contracts.

Forward Nathan Moon (4th Round – 2008) and defenseman Robert Bortuzzo (3rd Round – 2007) have been inked to deals that could send them along for the ride with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton during their playoff run.

Bortuzzo only played 23 games this season for the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL due to a shoulder injury. He registered 17 points in his return (1+16).

At Faceoff-Factor, we followed Nathan Moon all year long, and had a chance to talk to him late last month. Check out the interview here

This is a great reward for both players, but especially Moon, who had an excellent end to his season and who brings a ton of offensive talent to the table.

Stay tuned to FF as we continue to follow the journey of these two youngsters.

Good news. I’d like to see Bortuzzo in WB/S next year. Interested in seeing Moon, too, although he’ll be back in juniors next year.
