The Wheeling Nailers announced on Friday that they have signed Jason Tejchma for the upcoming season.
Tejchma is described as a skilled center who played four years with the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. Last season Tejchma played for the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL where he had seven goals in 16 games.
Tejchma said of himself, “I am both a goal scorer and a playmaker. I like to set players up as well as find the back of the net. I am not just a one-way player, either. I take care of my defensive zone too.”
The rookie was the captain of the UMass River Hawks, and led the team in scoring his senior year with 21 points. He also finished the year tied in a team leading 10 goals. He made the Hockey East All-Rookie Team after obtaining 23 points (9+14) in 40 games as a freshman. Tejchma finished his college career playing 148 games and scoring 96 points (40+56).
Nailers President Jim Brooks is very enthused about having Tejchma joining the team. “We feel Jason will be a big contributor to our success this season. He possesses a high level of offensive ability and has a great attitude.”
