Fantasy sports are a popular way for fans to show off their knowledge through their management decisions without making much of a financial investment. Plus, they’re fun.

But now, one web site is in the process of mixing the excitement of fantasy hockey with the reality of professional hockey — for a slight fee, of course.

Ryan Bouwens of Single A Hockeym has put together a unique site called HockeyOps.com, where, for $500, fans can purchase stake in a minor league hockey team.

In return, participating fans would receive “a season pass to live video feeds of home games; official promotional items, such as replica jerseys and bobble heads; a vote in important decisions; private team discussion area; and official staff reports.”

In his blog, Bouwens said: “Our goal is to get involved with a single A franchise. With a target of 500 fan-managers we will have enough investment to get this going.”
