The Johnstown Chiefs announced Tuesday that they have reached an affiliation agreement with the Boston Bruins of the NHL and the Providence Bruins of the AHL for the 2007-08 season.
This is the second time the Chiefs have been affiliated with the Bruins. The first time came in 1989-1993.
Both head coach Ian Herbers and owner Neil Smith are looking forward to this new partnership.
“They have several good young players in their organization that we will help develop,” Herbers said. “This affiliation can also open the door for many of our own players as well.”
Smith added: “It is a great honor to be with an ‘original six,’ team. The Bruins have a rich history that it is great to be a part of.”
The Chiefs also have an affiliation with the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL and the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL.
