The Victoria Salmon Kings announced today that Seamus Young has been traded to the Wheeling Nailers for financial considerations.
According to Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manger Dan Belisle, the Salmon Kings moved the 24-year-old defenseman as per his request.
“Seamus is a very talented young player, and consistently performed for us last season,” Belisle said, “but he asked to be traded for personal reasons. It is important for the young man to be closer to his home so he can help deal with a family matter. In the best interest of Seamus and the ECHL, we accommodated his request. It is the right thing to do.”
Young played all 72 games last season and tallied 22 points (9+13). He also played in all six Salmon King playoff games obtaining two points.
