NHL Network to Broadcast 20 AHL Games
The NHL reached a one-year extension on broadcast rights to games from its top development league. The games will air on the NHL network in both the U.S. and Canada with 20 “Game of the Week” match-ups televised every remaining Thursday of the AHL regular season at 7 PM Eastern time. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will appear in four such “Games of the Week”, all at home against intrastate rivals:
| Date | Opponent |
| Jan. 17th | Philadelphia |
| Feb. 14th | Hershey |
| Mar. 6th | Philadelphia |
| Apr. 10th | Philadelphia |
Coverage begins this Thursday with Rochester at Syracuse.
Flames Goalie Sent to Quad Cities on Rehab Assignment
Brent Krahn, who hurt his knee on the first day of training camp and had been rehabbing in Calgary, was sent down to the Quad Cities on Monday. Krahn will spend a good amount of time shaking off rust in the AHL before returning to the Flames roster to back up Miikka Kiprusoff. He’ll most likely make his first start on Thursday against Lake Erie.
Monarchs Alumn Scores Two Goals in First Four NHL Games
25 year-old left winger Matt Moulson, who tallied nine points on five goals and four assists in eight games for Manchester earlier this season, has scored in two of his first four games for the Kings, including one Tuesday in Los Angeles’ 4-3 shootout loss at Anaheim.

Former Nailer Returns to Jackals Line-up In Win
30 year-old left winger Bruce Watson, who played for the Nailers during the 2001-02 season and led that club with 314 penalty minutes, returned to the Elmira line-up in the team’s 4-2 win over the Mississippi Sea Wolves and collected an interference minor with 3:01 left in the second period that erased a Benoit Doucet goal. It was previously thought that Watson might have an infection in his foot that would have sidelined him for a couple months but the enforcer was given a clean bill of health prior Tuesday’s game.
League Suspends Stockton Forward
Jesse Bennefield was suspended for three games for physical abuse of an official. He was given the game misconduct penalty with 13:40 left in the third period of Stockton’s November 7th game at Phoenix. As mentioned earlier, Bennefield is one of a handful of Thunder players averaging at least a point a game. The suspension will cause the right winger to miss Faceoff Factor’s ECHL Game of the Week when Stockton plays Victoria at 9:05 Eastern tonight. Bennefield already sat out Stockon’s games on the 8th against Phoenix and the 12th against Fresno in anticipation of the automatic three-game suspension.
RoadRunners Deal for Struggling Goalie
Phoenix has aquired Goalie Dave McKee from the Augusta Lynx in exchange for defenseman Nick Toneys and future considerations. McKee has fared poorly in both the AHL and ECHL in limited action this season:
| League | GP | GAA | W | L | SV% |
| AHL | 2 | 5.11 | 0 | 2 | .841 |
| ECHL | 1 | 8.52 | 0 | 1 | .806 |
Previously a Ducks’ farmhand, McKee now joins the Sharks organization in being acquired by their ECHL affliate Phoenix. The former Cornell University standout has spent time as a back-up in Anaheim but did not enter an NHL game.
