GAME OF THE NIGHT
Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild
Colorado led for the entire second period and portions of the first and third. However, Minnesota took the lead with under two minutes remaining. The Avalanche would answer back moments later with a power play goal to force overtime. Minnesota would score the game winner in overtime, though.

Ottawa Senators 3 – Pittsburgh Penguins 5
The Penguins continued their hot play to start off the game. They made it 3-0 10:52 into the second period. However, Ottawa came back to tie the game. Ryan Malone netted the game winner on the power play with just over one minute remaining. He would add an empty netter 55 seconds later. Petr Sykora also scored two goals for the Penguins.

Washington was losing 4-2, but scored three unanswered goals. Alexander Ovechkin scored the game winner with under five minutes remaining. Daniel Briere scored two in the second period for the Flyers, but Mike Green scored two in the third for the Capitals.

It took over 44 minutes for either team to score a goal. Jaromir Jagr’s goal at 4:26 of the third started the scoring. Sean Avery scored 23 seconds later. John Madden would score with under two minutes remaining, but the Devils could not get the game tying goal behind Lundqvist.

Peter Forsberg scored with less than three minutes left in the first period. However, Minnesota answered back at the beginning of the third period. Pavel Demitra scored on the power play 1:37 into the final period. Mikko Koivu added another goal for Minnesota with under two minutes remaining. However, a late Kim Johnsson penalty gave the Avalanche a power play. Ryan Smyth redirected a John-Michael Liles shot past Niklas Backstrom to force overtime for the second straight game. However, this time Minnesota pulled it out. Keith Carney scored 1:14 into the extra period.
