The Bruins fended off elimination with four third period goals. Phil Kessel had two of Boston’s five goals. Christopher Higgins scored two for Montreal.

Trade deadline acquisition Sergei Fedorov was moved onto a line with Alexander Ovechkin and it sparked a great performance. Though Ovechkin did not record a point, his line was flying and he was on the ice for all three Capitals’ goals. Cristobal Huet was solid in goal, stopping 30 of 32 shots.

How can a coach ever remove a guy like Phil Kessel from the line-up?! He had two more goals Saturday night to help the Bruins avoid elimination. Five goals were scored in the final ten minutes of the game. Christopher Higgins scored twice in a losing effort for the Canadiens.

Minnesota Wild 1 – Colorado Avalanche 2
Once Colorado got the lead 12:20 into the second period, it was all over. They played stifling defense and Adam Foote was especially solid in keeping Marian Gaborik contained. Jose Theodore was stellar in net as well. The Avalanche goaltender stopped 34 of the 35 shots that he faced.
