TSN is reporting that Sean Avery will miss the remainder of the playoffs, however long they should be.

After being evaluated in a New York hospital, Avery was diagnosed with a lacerated spleen stemming from a run-in with a Penguins defenseman early in the game.

Like him or not, you hate to see this kind of thing happen to an NHL player.

Instances like this are a grim reminder of the dangers of the game. Avery is a pest, a nuisance, and one of the dirtiest players in the game, but he is a human and a member of our hockey community nonetheless.

Betts, Drury Could Miss Game 4

SportNews.com is reporting that, in addition to Avery, the Rangers could be without an additional two players as they face elimination in the best-of-seven series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Chris Drury was injured early in the second period of last night’s game and did not return until the third period. Upon returning Drury did not look himself. While his injury is officially undisclosed, reports are that it could be some sort arm injury.

Blair Betts has been confirmed to be out for tomorrow’s game after being hit in the face with a puck. There is no word on the specific injury or a time frame for his recovery.

    I think the cardiac problems were an exaggeration, though – the team says that he walked into the hospital.

    I say the Pens give them all a nice long extended summer vacation starting Friday.
