Pittsburgh Penguins 0 – New York Rangers 3
The Pittsburgh Penguins undefeated run in this year’s playoffs came to an end on Thursday night. Sean Avery missed the game due to a ruptured spleen and Max Talbot missed because of a broken foot. Gary Roberts was inserted in Talbot’s place. Jaromir Jagr scored the first goal at 12:45 of the second period, taking a hit from Brooks Orpik as soon as he let the shot go. Jagr laid on the ice for a few moments and was evaluated by the trainer. He would return to the bench and not miss any time. Jagr would add an empty netter at the end of the game. am i the ONLY one worried by the NYR win last night?
am i the ONLY one who thinks that the Rangers are a team that even down 3-0 or 3-1, they still HAVE A SHOT?
I’m sorry, but the Pens play last night was so bad, and the Rangers took it to them in the way they did in the regular season, it can’t do anything but invoke some doubt…which can be, and is, scary.

I watched a good portion of the 3rd period of the DET/COL game and it was so depressing. There was absolutely no intensity – since the score was 7-1 – and the players were just going through the motions. So sad..
And Jonathan, you are not the only one to think that. There’s that little voice in the back of my head saying the exact same thing. This is the first real adversity the Pens have faced in the playoffs, and they will need to bounce back and be better than ever if they want to win on Sunday.
I never believed that this was going to be a quick sweep, and I didn’t think that they’d win both games at MSG, but there was something about Game 4 that I didn’t like (other than the final score). Game 5 will tell us what this team is made of.

yea, it’s not the loss that bothers me, as i said, they were going to lose sometime…
...it’s the feel of the game, the way they llost, the way NY shutdown Malkin, Sid, Hossa, Staal, Sykora, Malone, Gonchar…all 4 PP’s, and scored on the their own PP…
it just has me a little worried….

Yeah, Jon, you’re not alone. I do think, however, that we’re a bit more worried than we would be if they would have lost a game here or there to this point. I think what we’ve seen to this point — the near dominance for the most part — has given fans a feeling that this team is invincible. And, since they finally lost, that invincibility is lost and the team is now beatable. In other words, I think the perception of the loss is much more harsh than the reality of it. With that being said, a dominant performance will be needed Sunday, as giving the Rangers even more life will be dangerous.

I was so disappointed last night. It’s not like the guys weren’t trying, they WERE. Lundqvist stopped them on many good chances. But it’s like they were disjointed, running around in disconnected fashion. THAT’S what worries me.

Let me add this. I’m not gonna be on a downer over this. This team has bounced back before, and they CAN and WILL bounce back again.

they can, i know that, esp. this year…
my concern, as matt said, is what happens if NY wins game 5, making 3-2 going back to MSG, that gives NY all the momentum, and that is what really scares me. not 1 loss, but what that loss means, and how up to this point, the Pens had the momentum, it wasn’t back and forth, it was straight forward…now, it’s in NY’s hands…granted, they will be playing for their season, but it’s just….concerning

Oh, I agree, Jonathan, I’m just looking at what they’ve done so far this playoffs, and even tho they haven’t lost, they’ve been in the hole and battled back. I’m counting on them pulling together as a team and doing the same for Game 5.
