Summary

The Red Wings were forced to play without Johan Franzen, who has been an important part of their success in the playoffs. However, they were able to pick up the win without their leading scorer in the playoffs.

Detroit got the first goal again. It came from Darren Helm 5:56 into the first period. Stephane Robidas would answer back under five minutes later to tie the game at one. The game winning goal would come from Henrik Zetterberg with under five minutes remaining in the first period.

After the first period, the goalies took over. Marty Turco stopped 32 of 34 shots. Osgood got the win after stopping 17 of 18, as Detroit’s defense continued to do a good job of limiting the Stars’ chances.

Osgood got into more action than he bargained for at the end of the game, however. The butt-end of his stick caught Mike Ribeiro after the horn blew to end the game. Ribeiro retaliated with a two handed whack across Osgood’s chest. Both men were fined on Sunday.
