Summary

Another game without Johan Franzen for Detroit, another challenge passed. Pavel Datsyuk stepped up to lead the charge for Detroit. Datsyuk scored two in the first and one more late in the third to get the hat trick.

The Wings also got support from Jiri Hudler and Henrik Zetterberg. Hudler scored on a breakaway to break a 2-2 tie in the second period. Early in the third, Zetterberg scored a shorthanded goal to stake the Wings to a two goal lead.

Detroit goalie Chris Osgood was able to earn another victory behind a solid defensive effort. The Stars managed only 18 shots against him. He turned 16 of them away. Marty Turco also managed 16 saves. However, the Red Wings threw 21 his way.

Game four will be played on Wednesday in Dallas. Detroit has the ability to complete the sweep, while Dallas looks to stay alive. If Dallas wants to avoid elimination, they will need to get more shots at Chris Osgood, who has hardly broken a sweat in the first three games of this series.

Well, I’ll admit I was completely wrong in my prediction for the Western Conference Finals.

I know that series isn’t officially over yet, but it may as well be.

Honestly, though, I expected the Stars to play better than they have. The Red Wings are definitely really good (and Osgood has been better than I was giving him credit for), so I’m not trying to take anything away from them, but the Stars don’t look anything like the team that won its first two rounds of the playoffs.
