Summary

The ice seemed to be slanted in this game. Dallas controlled the flow in the first period. When the teams change sides for the second, Detroit was in charge. Dallas recaptured the momentum in the third.

The Stars came out with some hop in the first. They kept the puck in the Red Wings zone for a large portion of the period, leading to three power plays. They were unable to convert for any points in the period, however.

Detroit took charge in the second period and kept the pressure on the Stars. The Stars in turn took three penalties in the second. However, the Stars had a spurt of offense at the end of the period which lead to the first goal of the game and their first lead of the series. Loui Eriksson was rewarded for a hard-fought shift with the goal.

The third period opened up with a goal by Henrik Zetterberg in the first minute. The Stars would answer back minutes later, though with Mike Modano getting a powerplay goal. Brenden Morrow would add an insurance marker with under six minutes remaining.

Marty Turco played an inspired game, stopping 33 of 34 shots. He held off a late charge in the final two minutes from the Red Wings which included a 5-on-3 powerplay. He earned recognition as the first star of the game.

The series will head back to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit for Game Five. The teams will get a few days rest as Game Five will not be played until Saturday. It can be watched on NBC at 1:30 ET.

Detroit definitely wasn’t on their game.
Dallas was desperate. The disallowed goal for Detroit didn’t help much either.

That disallowed goal was BS. That should’ve counted. I don’t like that rule.
