So far, for the first 4, they are all predicting 7 games. That will be a long, tough series.

  2. Patrick Cartwright

    May 22, 10:45 AM

Ross McKeon on yahoo sports says red wings in 5. as a pens fan, I think he’s an idiot.

Patrick, believe it or not, I just finished reading McKeon’s piece called “Title waits for the Wings.” While the Wings very well might take this series, suggesting either team will get it done in five games is a bit unrealistic.

    Thanks for the heads-up.

  4. Brian

    May 22, 12:33 PM

Bill Clement picked the Wings in 7.

    Nice article here. Good compilation.

Craig Simpson says Penguins in 6.

He is an extremely smart hockey mind, and does one of the best breakdowns of the series I’ve read so far.

One of the few sites I have access to at work is Yahoo, and I must say Ross McKeon is the worst columnist I’ve ever come across.

With that being said, predictions are predictions. Anyone could be right.

Whatifsports, which simulated the finals 10,000 times, agrees with McKeon.

Thanks everyone for the heads-up with the predictions. Keep them coming! I’m assuming a large number of “gurus” will come out with their predictions tomorrow, the day before the series begins. I’ll be scouring the net to add to the growing list.

Paul, thanks for the link to Whatifsports.com, but we’ll leave that one out simply because its done through simulation rather than intuition.

Duhatschek picked the Wings in 6.

  11. Michael Farkas

    Secondhand via Ned on LGP...

“both Madden and Colony are predicting Pens in 6 on 1250.”

Thanks everyone! Keep them coming, and if a link can be provided, even better!

  15. Michael Farkas

    May 23, 11:49 AM

Keith Jones (Comcast Sportsnet – Philadelphia) says Red Wings will win it. He also says Flyers win it in 2009, so grains of salt are on the house.

It’s too bad you dont have Eklund on there. That guy is always right.

  17. Ashley Gallant

    May 23, 05:26 PM

Michael Landsberg, host of Off The Record (TSN), just announced that he is going with Detroit.

The NHL on TSN crew have announced their picks. Maggie the Monkey and Gino Reda vote for Pittsburgh, while Bob McKenzie and Mike Milbury vote for Detroit.

The media really seems split down the middle when it comes to predicting this Cup final, eh?

  19. Matt Bodenschatz

    May 23, 10:49 PM

As of right now, our list shows a dead even split of 30 votes a piece. Obviously this isn’t a list of all media members, but it’s a large representation. This is a pretty good indication that these are two evenly matched teams.
