Holmstrom could play game 5

Winger Tomas Holmstrom sat out game 4 on Saturday night because of a sore hamstring, but he could be back Monday night when the series shifts back to Detroit.

Wings fan thrown out of Mellon Arena

Zach Smith, a Red Wings fan from Cleveland, tossed an octopus on the ice just after the national anthem and then found himself being tossed out of the arena.

Smith and a couple of friends from Detroit has purchased the octopus at Superior Fish Co. in Royal Oak and stored it in a cooler. They made their way to Pittsburgh, where Smith put the smelly, uncooked creature in a plastic bag. It was then smuggled into Mellon Arena by taping it to Smith’s stomach. Smith took it out of the bag and tossed it onto the ice before the game.

Security told him that if he tried to get back in, he would be arrested. Smith had anticipated this and was armed with an extra ticket to the game – a $300 ticket from a scalper. He pulled on his Red Wings sweater and re-entered the building to watch the game.

“I feel great,” Smith said. “I’m not nervous. Anything with an adrenaline rush, I love it.”
