Staal Injured
Jordan Staal was seen limping after Game 4. He has a bruised foot as a result of blocking a shot while on the PK. He will likely play in Game 5 on Monday.
Malkin Facing Harsh Criticism
Evgeni Malkin has been held scoreless for the entire Stanley Cup Finals, and the media is scrutinizing him for it. He was “inconsolable” after Game 4.
“Obviously, you guys put a lot of pressure on him,” Max Talbot said. “I think he’s feeling it.”
“Nothing is happening for him,” coach Michel Therrien said.
Talbot Frustrated
Maxime Talbot is usually a jokester, so his press conference after Game 4 stands out. He was visibly frustrated, not only because of the diving call he received. “The guy cross-checked me in the back. What do you want me to do?” Talbot said of Brett Lebda who was also penalized. He is also, obviously frustrated with his teams 3-1 deficit in the series. “It’s tough, but why would you want to be down?” he said. “We have to take it one game at a time. I still have to do my job. Guys still have to do their job. The last one’s always the hardest to win. I know it’s cliche, but that’s what we need to think about.”

It makes me want to : 1) punch anyone in the media who gets on Geno…Like he ENJOYS what’s happening! 2) Cry….I can’t stand to see ANY of the guys so down but to see and hear Max like this is killing me.

Teri, while I agree to an extent, it’s hard for the media NOT to criticize him. He’s been invisible for one reason or another. He’s counted on to be one of the top players, and he’s playing like a fourth liner. If he wants to stop the criticism, he needs to suck it up and play some hockey.
With that being said, I think there is an injury we haven’t heard about that is screwing with his game. You don’t just go from unbelievably dominant to completely invisible the way he has without some underlying story.

I agree Matt. SOMETHING is definitely wrong, and no one is admitting it.
teri ~ I agree with ya, it’s hard to see it and hear it!
