After their game 5 3OT loss to the Penguins, Mike Babcock told the media that his team was going to be ready for game 6 on Wednesday and that his team wasn’t too old for this kind of series.
“I think a lot of our players are pretty young, as well, and pretty fit,” said Babcock. “I think the hardest thing in a game like this is the mental part. The mind drives the body. Your body can keep going.
“I think it’s natural to feel bad for yourself for a bit, but this is the Stanley Cup playoffs. It’s supposed to be a battle, and we’re in one.”
Chris Osgood knew that it wasn’t his best performance of the series. In fact, you could probably say that it was his worst, and he didn’t want to talk about it.
Many of his teammates came to his defense as he hid from everyone for an hour after the game.
Nick Lidstrom and Henrik Zetterberg were asked to compare the Olympics to the Stanley Cup Finals. Both agreed that the Stanley Cup is more meaningful.
“It’s a little bit different going to play in the Olympic tournament or playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs,” said Lidstrom. “You’ve been with the [NHL] team throughout the whole season. You’ve been through almost two months of playoff hockey. And going to the Olympics you play — I think we played eight games in 12 nights — so it’s a pretty short tournament, and it goes by quick.”
“You spend such a long time, so much time with the players [in the NHL],” Zetterberg said. “And it’s fun to go far in the playoffs. I think it’s a little different for the Olympics. If you’re on a roll, you can make something good happen. But, here in playoffs, it’s minimal games, and you have to be better throughout a longer period.”

How rude of Osgood. If Sidney Crosby had done that after game 4, he’d have been called…immature.
Nuff said.
