Sportsnet.ca is reporting that, just 24 hours after trading for forwards Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts, the Tampa Bay Lightning are close to signing both former Penguins.

Reportedly, Malone will earn just over $31 million over seven seasons with the Lightning. His cap hit will be just over $4 million per year.

Roberts, meanwhile, apparently will sign a one-year deal worth up to $2 million.

If the signings take place, the Lightning will upgrade the original 2009 fourth round draft pick sent to Pittsburgh to a third round pick in 2009.

Also, it is being reported that Greg Malone, Ryan’s father, was signed away from the Phoenix Coyotes and will serve the Lightning in a scouting capacity.

Faceoff Factor will confirm the news when it is made official.
