The National Hockey League has released its 2008-09 schedule.

It can be found here.

Of note, the season begins with four games in Europe.

  • Two games between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning in Prague
  • Two games between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators in Sweden

On January 1, the Detroit Red Wings will travel to Chicago to play the Blackhawks at Wrigley Field for the second annual “Winter Classic” outdoor game. Interestingly, the NHL has scheduled four other games for later that day, one of which includes the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The full schedule for the Penguins can be found here.

Does anyone not like the Winter Classic match-up? I don’t know, I would rather see Chicago and Boston play.

Anyway he says we are not so deep in centerposition….???
    i thought we were…
    according to lot of people…
    anyway his point are
after trading away Brent centerposition looks like this….:
Crosby,Malkin,Staal and Talbot looks good enough then he says
Beech,Jeffrey and Letestu are the following centerman… not so good??
He also writes that Stone hasnt play center in 2 years….
Question hasnt Minard and James played center???
    He doesnt mention Kennedy….
Well all this makes me even more wanting Jeff Taffe back…..
he played winger and center, did a good job.
    at both positions.

    or am i dead wrong…..?
    used to that, LOL =))))
    opinons pls…

Finally has WBS or Pens the rights to
    J-M Daoust ?

Henke, I don’t think you’re wrong at all. The Penguins are weak depth-wise at center. If I had to guess, I would say Shero still has a decent signing up his sleeve. Think along the lines of Adam Hall: a training camp tryout contract to a proven NHL fourth liner.

I just think that, the longer Taffe sits on free agency, the less likely he is to return. If the Penguins really wanted him, they would signed him long ago.

I believe Daoust is under AHL-only contract.

Have a great weekend as well!

Henke, just a quick update. Bombulie apparently is under the impression Taffe has signed today. I’m not seeing it anywhere else, and I don’t believe FF’s Michael Farkas has reported the news yet, so take it with a grain of salt. But, if true, I’ll eat crow :)
