Pominville and Sabres Agree to Five-Year Extension

GM Darcy Regier announced the Sabres have agreed to keep Jason Pominville in Buffalo through the 2013-14 season. Pominville finished second on the team in scoring and posted career-highs in points and assists during the 2007-08 season.

“Not only did we draft him, but he is someone that has grown up in this organization… and continues to get better and better,” Regier said. “We look forward to a continued relationship and development of a very good hockey player at this time in the NHL.”

Sabres Extend Regier

The Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano announced the Sabres extended the contract of GM Darcy Regier until the 2010-11 season.

“I’m obviously thrilled to stay here,” Regier said. “I think back to when I was first hired… with all the turmoil back then, Lindy [Ruff] was hired shortly after, I didn’t know we would last one year let alone how many years this currently is. You move along not taking anything for granted.”

Regier and Ruff have become the longest-tenured GM/Head Coach tandem in the four major sports. This season is the 12th season that Regier has been the GM for the Sabres.
