Summary
The NHL is known as the best hockey league in the world, but in Philadelphia, the AHL franchise skated to a 4-2 victory over their parent club in an exhibition.

Yes, you read that correctly.

The Flyers — an NHL team some have predicted to win the entire Eastern Conference — lost to their AHL club, the Phantoms.

For those worried about the Penguins’ woes, this might be an eye opener.

The Flyers were outshot 38-30 and were blanked on five power play opportunities.

Typically, I’m not at a loss for words, especially when writing a story, but I really think this one speaks for itself.

Wow.

    Can you say, “LOL”?
...And Aubin was in goal…(for the Flyers)... for the last period.
But the last goal was an EN.

Still, this is truly something special.

Ha! Doesn’t this crack you up? I detest the Flyers, so I love it!

I think it means a bit more about the quality of their prospects.

Sbisa and Nodl are top notch, and obviously Giroux.

Sucks for those of us who hate the Flyers.

Zach, actually, I think it means nothing all around, to be honest. The NHL club probably was playing a disinterested game, just trying not to get hurt, while the AHL club — most notably Niittymaki, who was cut from the team — probably wanted to prove something.

I’m reading about as much into this as I did the Penguins’ first two games in Sweden.

But it’s still funny to see!

Wait…Niittymaki was cut from the team? While he’s injured? I thought he’d be rehabilitating with the Phantoms.

DS, my mistake. As it turns out, Niittymaki is on a rehab stint with the Phantoms. Apologies.
