Less than two months time remains until the 2007-08 NHL season commences, and still, 22 teams have yet to reveal their new Rbk Edge uniforms and, in some cases, new logos.
To date, the following teams have revealed new uniforms:
1. Boston Bruins (June 21)
2. Washington Capitals (June 22)
3. Columbus Blue Jackets (June 22)
4. Los Angeles Kings (June 22)
5. Nashvile Predators (July 19)
6. New York Rangers (July 26)
7. Florida Panthers (July 28)
8. Detroit Red Wings (August 8)
Of that group, the Bruins, Capitals and Blue Jackets also have introduced new or slightly tweaked logos. The San Jose Sharks also have made public their new logo.
The following is a list of scheduled reveal dates for some of the remaining teams. Those not listed have not yet divulged this information.
August 22: Ottawa Senators (new logo, uniform)
August 25: Tampa Bay Lightning (logo, uniform)
August 29: Vancouver Canucks (logo, uniform)
September 4: Calgary Flames (uniform)
September 13: Atlanta Thrashers (uniform)
September 14: Dallas Stars (uniform)
September 16: Carolina Hurricanes (uniform)
September 16: Philadelphia Flyers (uniform)
September 17: Edmonton Oilers (uniform)
The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of several teams offering a pre-order option for fans to secure jerseys, though their new design has yet to be revealed.

I was under the impression that all new uniforms would be available on September 15. Is that mistaken?

Not that I am aware of. From what I understand, teams don’t have a deadline, so long as the uniforms are made public prior to the start of the season. I could be wrong on that, though.

It’s nice to change once in a while, but I’m starting to think it’s all a money -making scheme.

EA Sport’s NHL ’08 comes out on 9/11 and will have all the new uniforms.

Thanks guys, and dabich. :-)
I think I was going by September 15 because that’s when the store said that the new RBK jerseys will ship for the Penguins.

Matt, thanks for the info. I wonder, though, if they will have all the newly-designed uniforms or just generic designs using the new Rbk Edge style. From my experiences with hockey video games (including EA Sports), they can’t even get rosters up-to-date, let alone uniforms and whatnot.
Dabich, I don’t doubt the delay in uniform revealings has everything to do with money. However, the idea of the RBK Edge uniforms is to enhance the quality for the players. They are more form fitting, allowing for better aerodynamics; they are made of material that doesn’t’ absorb sweat, making them lighter; and they don’t flap in the wind, limiting the obstructions that can occur. I think they’ll be worthwhile for the players, but right now, it’s just a bit of a pain.
Kyle, I’ve been looking around, and nothing that I have found contradicts the schedule listed above, so I remain of the belief that new uniforms don’t have to be released by the 15th, though that is the date the Penguins jerseys will be shipped.
Thanks to all for the comments — keep them coming!

Hopefully the Pens won’t mess with the new uniforms! Though I have heard rumors that say otherwise…

There really has been next to no confirmed information on the new uniforms. Like you, I hope little — if anything — is changed with the design. Of course, I do have the belief that the yellow should be changed to the old-school yellow of the early 90s instead of the current “Las Vegas” gold. But that won’t happen anytime soon.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I prefer the gold to the yellow. I find that the yellow of the early 90s was a little too bright for my liking.

Possibly so, but it is nice having the Pittsburgh teams with the same colors — of course the Pirates have changed, as well. My issue with the LV gold is that it is too dull. Up close, I love them, but from a distance, and on tv, the gold looks like gray. They just look really drab to me.

Hi I live in Philadelphia and i am wondering if you have any info on the flyers new uniform design….this is ridiculous all these teams are taking way too long to unveil all these uniforms esp the flyers…it better be good to wait all this time…i hope iam not disappointed , but i definitly know iam not pre ordering a jersey when i cant even see what it looks like..thats just plain stupid….any way your thought?..lol

Sorry, Gianpaolo. I wish I could help you out but, since you’re a Flyers fan I can’t! Just kidding. But seriously, these uniforms have been kept hush-hush for whatever reason. It has even gotten to the point that some teams are scouring the Internet and ordering web sites to remove supposed “leaked” versions of their uniforms.
I agree with you that they are taking way too long to release them and, worse yet, many teams are asking fans to pre-order them without even seeing what they look like. My guess is those pre-order numbers will be limited.
If I hear anything, I will be sure to write an update for Faceoff Factor.
Thanks for the question and comments, and please continue to do contribute in the future! Can I ask how you found us?
