Driving to the net, blocking shots at the point and heading off to the races, deking through traffic, all of these are trademarks of great shorthanded goals.

But even as you read this, you’re thinking shorthanded in the 5-4 capacity.

Mario Lemieux can do all those things while the other team is on a two man advantage.

Facing a 5-3, Mario turns the tide against the L.A. Kings with this fantastic shorthanded feed from Paul Coffey to score his 53rd goal of the year.

From one hall of famer to another. This goal is one of the best.

    Nah….MARIO was the greatest, he had so much adversity to overcome…just my humble opinion :)

    Hey I like the 30 days of mario, awesome, I’m a huge lemieux fan, huge! if you have anything else mario going on, or you know how to get ahold of some old pens games that hightlight mario’s early career, i would be greatly interested
