Ovechkin Re-signing Imminent

TSN.ca is reporting that a story leaked this afternoon regarding a long-term contract for Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin was premature.

However, the site also reports a deal is close.

“Contract negotiations between the Capitals and leading scorer Alexander Ovechkin continue but a deal has yet to be reached.” – TSN staff

The initial and premature report indicated that Ovechkin, accompanied by family and an attorney, agreed to a six-year extension worth $54 million.

Ovechkin has 32 goals ans 20 assists this season.
