I did not unfortunately get to watch the game due to being in class and not being able to find a stream but these notes were gathered from various message boards etc.

First Period:

Very slow start to the game, 1 shot per team after 5 minutes.

A lot of early offsides for Pittsburgh. That plagued them the past couple games as well. Eric liked to jokingly blame Petersen but it is a team wide thing.

CPZ beats Boston goalie Dalton on the powerplay with a sick shot through a screen. The penalty was a delay of game on Dalton.

Johnson nearly scores to put the Pens up by two.

Boston scores an ugly one on a point shot that hits two Bruins on the way in.

Another Bruins goal ~20 seconds later. No description of the goal available.

Pittsburgh was putting the pressure on. Someone fired a shot wide and Bathgate grabbed the rebound and put it in 5 hole. Assist to D’Aversa and ?????

Fletcher and Schnell fight. Schnell’s 6th fight in 4 games. Wouldn’t his hand and face hurt by now? Fletcher got the win in the fight according to the Bruins blogger.

Shots 7-6 Boston in the first.

Second Period:

Another slow start to the period. DeSousa and Moon get into a confrontation. Moon has been very scrappy and really got under the skin of the players in this tournament.

8 minutes into the period and shots are 22-8 Pens.

Bortuzzo misses an empty net. Definitely not a scorer.

Veilleux slipped a shot through Dalton’s 5-hole to put the Pens ahead 3-2. He absolutely loves shooting 5-hole as Eric noticed at Rookie Camp.

Shots 12 minutes in are 27-8.

5:55 – 29-10

A commenter asks what forecheck Boston was using, the blogger’s response: “shots are 31-11, Pitt. I think they are using a duck and cover forecheck.”

Third Period:

The Dalton show begins.

Shorthanded breakaway by LoVecchio, big save by Killeen.

Shots 40-13.

Caputi dominates everyone on the ice… except Dalton. Big save.

Pittsburgh outshooting Boston 50-16.

Killeen comes up big in the last minute keeping off a last minutes surge by Boston.

Final Shot Total 52-22.

Five kids from the rookie tournament didn’t earn a training camp invitation:
Goalie Patrick Killeen and center Andy Bathgate were returned to their junior clubs, although it’s worth noting that both seemed to acquit themselves pretty well in the tourney. Forwards Ryan Schnell and Justin Dowling and defenseman Brenden Dillon, all of whom participated in the tournament on tryouts, were released. With six fights in four games, Schnell’s strategy to make an impression was pretty clear. Although I’m uncertain how many of those scraps he emerged the winner.

I didn’t see any of the games, so I can’t really judge too much. But from what I’ve read seems like Caputi was all over the place in each game, even if he didn’t show up a ton on the scoreboard.

So will WBS’ get Schnell or Dowling? It seemed like Schnell was a legit fighting prospect.

@Malk, Schnell and Downling were both released.
