Should Crosby Fight?
Matt Bodenschatz | Pittsburgh Penguins

You read that correctly, I said Crosby, not Cooke.
You read that correctly, I said Crosby, not Cooke.
I’m working on a few things this afternoon, so my game preview has been abbreviated to mention a few notes of significance.
The Penguins today announced that team CEO Ken Sawyer will retire in August, making way for David Morehouse to step in.
Long considered a first round bust, Brooks Orpik has stepped into the spotlight over the last two seasons. Now you have a chance to show how the NHL’s fans really feel about the rugged blueliner.
The regularly scheduled edition of game grades has been canceled today due to illness.
Forget the hype that Bruins announcer Jack Edwards is putting towards this game. The Bruins might be angry about Savard, but they’ll be more angry if this two points costs them a playoff spot because of goonery.
Turnover. Breakaway. Goal.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
We are all well aware of the Pens’ total ineptitude against the Devils this season. They have yet to win a game in five tries against a team they lead by two points in the chase for the Atlantic Division title. They have been outscored 17-3. That’s just one of a series of incredibly ugly numbers against Lou’s Ruiners of Hockey.
Stay up-to-date with the Penguins’ injuries and injury timelines.
Update: Godard could return to action versus Bruins, Malkin likely to return Saturday
A complete look at the 2009-10 season schedule and the results of each game.
Update: Penguins fall to Devils 5-2
As if no other player has made a dirty hit, Matt Cooke has become the talk of the NHL following his head-shot to Marc Savard Sunday.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie has been Tweeting this morning that Matt Cooke will meet his fate this afternoon.
Update: No suspension. Details inside
There’s an unfortunate circumstance that surrounds Sidney Crosby no matter what he does: it’s never right.
Matt Cooke’s third period hit left Marc Savard motionless on the ice for minutes, yet didn’t result in a penalty. A suspension seems inevitable but is not definite. What do you think? Let’s us know inside!
The trade has been approved by the NHL and is officially in the books!
It’s difficult to think Ray Shero has any more magic up his sleeve, but stranger things have happened.
Peter Mueller has struggled in the desert but there are rumblings around the NHL that he could be on his way to Pittsburgh.
The Penguins will ice a team tonight that features a new face on the blueline and a self-proclaimed “superstar” at center.
Penguins general manager Ray Shero surely would like to improve his offense, and a scoring line net-front presence, such as Torres, would be an ideal addition.
Sergei Gonchar and the Penguins have reached an impasse over the length and salary of the defenseman’s next contract. What’s next?
The Penguins appear to have bolstered their defense with the addition of an experienced stay-at-home blueliner.
The Trade Deadline is Wednesday at 3:00 p.m., and inside, you’ll find a quick rundown of what you need to know about FF’s coverage, how the deadline works, and what might be on the horizon for the Pens.
With the Pittsburgh Penguins apparently in the market for a defenseman, rumors have swirled regarding who might be the team’s top target.
Should the Penguins pursue a flawed scoring line winger, or would it be more resourceful to promote Jordan Staal to a scoring role?
Jagr burned plenty of bridges in 2002, when he not only publicly requested a trade, but proclaimed he was “dying alive” in Pittsburgh. But Pittsburgh is a “what have you done for me lately” kind of city, and a return surely would be welcomed once he scores his first goal.
Rival fans of Sidney Crosby cling to portrayals of his game that exsisted five years ago. Can he shake these dead stereotypes on the international stage?
Well, Ray Shero finally did it.
He made a trade.
Standings, statistics, injuries, starting goalies, lineups, and more.
One could say the Penguins miss Rob Scuderi and Hal Gill. Or maybe they could also use some help on the wings, with an inconsistent Bill Guerin, an invisible Ruslan Fedotenko, and a bevy of grinders filling scoring roles.
The Penguins took home one point in a game most considered would be over before it even started.
TSN’s Bob McKenzie is reporting that the Penguins may be the team Ray Whitney, owner of a no trade clause, is “waiting on at the deadline.”
Could Jay McKee be headed to the Blackhawks? Are the Penguins interested in Raffi Torres?
Slated to be out four to six weeks with a groin injury, enforcer Eric Godard may have played his last game of the season.
Can the Penguins cool off the red hot Senators?
Update: Lines updated to include Nick Johnson
The Pens extend the gritty center, it was announced today.
Not even a two-goal effort was enough to keep Chris Conner in the NHL. But, with the Penguins’ injury woes, a return could come as early as Thursday.
In their place will be Martin Skoula and Chris Conner, freshly promoted from the AHL.
Another Pens Versus game, another missed game for me.
The Philadelphia Flyers wanted nothing to do with claims that Scott Hartnell bit Kris Letang several months back, despite the visual evidence. Now, the Broad Street “Bullies” find themselves whining that one of their players was bitten.
After tonight’s game, I feel that a preemptive strike may be necessary.
