Crosby re-signed for 5 more years!

Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pittsburgh Penguins have signed C Sidney Crosby to a 5-year extension for $43.5 million. This will come at a cap hit of $8.7M/year.
In only two seasons in the NHL, Crosby has led the league in scoring, won the Pearson and Hart awards, and become the NHL’s youngest captain in history.
This extension will cover Crosby for all of his RFA-eligible years as well as one year into UFA eligibility. The Pittsburgh Penguins captain stayed true to his word by accepting a discount of $1.36M/yr from the maximum deal that he could have signed.
