In expected news, Penguins forward Max Talbot has been confirmed out for game four of the Eastern Conference semi-finals. Taking his place on the fourth line will be veteran Gary Roberts.

Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes that Scuderi will remain in the lineup despite a bruised foot.

Talbot is believed to have suffered a broken foot while blocking a shot during a penalty kill Tuesday. Scuderi’s injury came within minutes of Talbot’s injury, though it obviously isn’t as severe.

There is no timetable for Talbot’s return, though it is possible he could be ready without missing much time at all. The length of time he misses will be determined by the bone that is broken.

Roberts, who has been out with a sore groin since the middle of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Ottawa Senators. While he was medically cleared to play the first game of this series, Roberts kept himself out of action because he said he did not feel 100 percent healthy.

He was available for Tuesday’s game, but coach Michel Therrien kept him out of the lineup to avoid changing a winning formula.

It sucks to lose Max, but to be able to insert GR into his place is just plain wrong and must make other franchises cry. The depth of this team is beginning to show itself.

I heard that Avery faked his own injury because he knew Roberts would be back.
