If You Smell What Laraque Is Cookin

With what is sure to be a physical series, Michel Therrien has to be happy with Georges Laraque being on his bench. It also has to worry the Flyers. The truth is, it does at least have Flyers coach John Stevens thinking about how to counter-act the Penguins Enforcer.

According to TSN.ca, Stevens may turn to Riley Cote who fought with Laraque twice during the regular season. Steve Downie is another possibility. “We feel we have depth at every position, and we’re going to sort it out. All these guys might play at some point.” Stevens said.

Perhaps Coach Stevens should listen to Laraque for the answer to his line-up considerations. When asked about Cote by the Post-Gazette, Laraque was quoted as calling Cote “pound-for-pound . . . the toughest guy in the NHL.”

Though fighting is a rarity in the playoffs, the presence of these enforcers is still felt. It is far less likely that one will take a cheap shot at a star player if they know that Georges Laraque or Riley Cote may be coming after them.
