I’m thinking Scuderi ~ he seemed to be hurt last game.

Hey, let’s put in Taffe and Conklin too.

If we’re going with players for no reason anyways.

The Post-Gazette said he was an emergency recall because Kris Letang left to attend the Bourdon funeral. There was no mention that he was going to dress or play.

I’m with you, Tom. I doubt that he is being called up to ride the pine.

Tom, why not? His team is down 2-0 and any minor leaguer would tell you they’d rather be an NHL healthy scratch than playing in the AHL — even for a championship. If the plan is for “Gogo” to be with the big club next year, giving him a taste of the playoff intensity is anything but bad.

With that being said, I too think something is wrong with Scuderi.

To add, the Penguins’ defense has given up four goals in the last two games, while the offense has scored four. To me, the problem lies more with a lack of production from the offense than the defense. You won’t win if you can’t score.

And just another note to support this, check out the PK stats. The Pens are clicking at 88.3%, which is the best of all playoff teams, and quite respectable, considering they’ve played in more games than many of those teams — and considering they’re stifling the Red Wings. Now, to take that a step further, look at the Pens’ top PK defenders: Scuderi (3:49 per game) and Gill (3:44 per game). Typically, those most trusted on the PK are those most affective in the defensive zone. Considering the PK is so high and these two “slow” defensemen play such a huge role in it, I’d assume these two are playing quite well.
