Summary
With Finnish sensation Janne Pesonen on their side, the Pittsburgh Penguins walked out of Hartwell Arena in Helsinki, Finland with a victory in hand.

Petr Sykora sore groin sat out the game with a sore groin, making way for Pesonen to shine on the second line with Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal.  He finished the game with an assist on Tyler Kennedy’s third period tally.

Before the game started, the crowd chanted his name, something Pesonen misinterpreted.

"I thought they were chanting, ‘Let’s Go Pens,’" he said to Shawn P. Roarke of NHL.com.

Sidney Crosby, shining as always, finished the game with three assists, while his new linemates — Miroslav Satan and Ruslan Fedotenko — each notched a point.

"It was a good experience for our team playing in Finland and good to get a win heading into the weekend," Crosby said.

The Penguins returned to Stockholm following the game.

A final roster cut is expected to come sometime tomorrow, as the team must have a trimmed roster of 24 players for Saturday’s season opener against the Ottawa Senators in the "Stockholm Premier."

Damn straight, Alex. I’ve got Saturday & Sunday planned around the games.

Good to see Pesonen get some time on a scoring line and, by what I’ve read, perform reasonably well. I don’t like the idea of him getting 7 or 8 minutes/game on the 4th, although if Godard sits some games, we could have a nice little (literally) line that could chip in a few goals…
