Inside The Game

The Pittsburgh Penguins will face their stiffest competition of the season in goal this afternoon as they play host to Roberto Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks.

Luongo may not be atop the leader board in terms of goals-against average or save percentage, but his two shutouts are tied for first, and his 11 wins are second in the league.  Quite simply, he wins games.

But Dany Sabourin hasn’t been too shabby for the Penguins in his spot work in relief of Marc-Andre Fleury.  He’ll look to start his third consecutive game this afternoon, and though he hasn’t played enough games to qualify as a league leader, his goals-against average and his save percentage are tops in the NHL.

The Penguins, rather fresh after playing just three games in the last week, must capitalize on a weary Canucks team that is finishing up a road trip that has seen them hop from New York to Minnesota and then back to Pittsburgh.

    Sorry, Dabich. Had a busy day and ended up leaving the house immediately after the game and didn’t get home until late. Someone drug me to a certain movie :)
